Muscle Recovery FAQ
Muscle hydration is a series of techniques based on the principles of myofascial release. It targets muscles and joints to help the body rediscover its natural balance by using individualized pressure to pull fluids into dry tissue. Read More
Unlike rolling techniques, the pulse uses varied levels of pressure instead of uniform force. This prevents the muscle from tensing because each part of the tissue receives individualized pressure.
Pulsing benefits the tissue in two ways: (1) when you apply pressure, you are making space in the tissue and (2) when you release pressure, the newly created space pulls fluids in from the outlying tissues—as a result of negative pressure—leaving the tissue more hydrated and pliable.
We recommend targeting the same muscle region two to three times in one day. We then recommend resting that region the next day.
Pain travels. Once you have addressed one area, it is likely that another area will demand attention. Why? Your body is an interconnected system of support and strength that is constantly balancing and counterbalancing. Once one area regains balance, another area that was compensating for the imbalance may need attention. Follow the pain around your body for best results.
Move slowly and listen to your body. The pressure you use does not have to hurt to be effective. A little pressure is more effective than too much.
Lighten your pressure, breathe, and continue along the muscle line.
Wave5 FAQ
It’s common to feel a post-workout soreness. However, if the pressure you used was too intense, the area you treated may feel tender to the touch or bruised. If this happens, lighten your pressure the next time you target that region.
Possibly. Any time you apply pressure to soft tissue, there is a chance of bruising. Bruising can occur when there is a high amount of pressure to an area of the body that causes blood vessels under the skin to break, leaving the skin discolored. WAVE5 techniques introduce gradual pressure and use your “feel good” intensity to avoid applying too much.
It depends on (1) when your imbalance occurred, (2) daily habits, (3) physical activity level, (4) experience with self-muscle care, and (5) water intake.
Addressing years of muscular imbalance takes more than a single session, but with each use, dry, irritated tissue gets hydrated making the muscle softer and more pliable. The more hydrated your muscles, the more flexibility, strength, endurance, and mobility your body will experience.
Each technique in WAVE5’s mobile application is specifically designed for the WAVE5 tools. The recommended body positioning in each session is dependent on the size and shape of WAVE5’s tools. For best results, use each technique with the appropriate tool.
Yes. WAVE5 is latex-free and safe for use by latex-sensitive individuals.
No. WAVE5 is a complete muscle hydration system, and the tools are sold together as a unit.
A session is a series of muscle lines organized to target specific muscle or joint pain and discomfort. Each session addresses areas that are either contributing to or being affected by imbalances in your body (or the source of your pain).
No, but if you would like that option, please email (support@woocommerce-441623-1382827.cloudwaysapps.com) the WAVE5 team.
It offers a library of step-by-step instructions of over 150 “sessions” that cover 19 muscle regions and 21 joint regions.
Not to worry. WAVE5 guides you beyond your initial target area by recommending sessions. We navigate your path each step of the way.
Use WAVE5 when your muscles or joints speak to you (i.e., tightness, fatigue, immobility, pain, etc.). WAVE5 can be used pre-activity, post-activity, while traveling, or any time of the day or night.
The RESTORE sessions are designed to be used post-activity.
No, you can use the code that you get when purchasing the tool to cover your next annual subscription after the first year expires, or you can use the code for a free annual subscription after your first month subscription expires.

Wet a washcloth/towel with soap and warm water to wash the tools; dry thoroughly after. Do NOT submerge the tools.
Yes. WAVE5 covers the primary lines to target a muscle or joint region.
Begin with the tutorial on how to pulse and start with the area that hurts the most or where you experience the most restriction.
To target the pain within a muscle, you want to address the entire muscle. Treating only portions of the muscle or muscle group may feel good but is not as effective and can lead to additional or continued imbalance.
The treads on WAVE5’s tools are designed to imitate the tools used by muscle hydration therapists such as an elbow, thumb, forearm, knuckle, and more. Because of the shape and density of each tread, you can effectively target specific areas of your body as a therapist would.
Please see “Meet WAVE5” for specifics on each shape and what it mirrors.
Yes, but not all sessions are as beginner-friendly as others.
No. The treads may discolor or scuff after repeated use. This does not affect the integrity or effectiveness of the tool.
It depends on your goal. When used before an activity, WAVE5 prepares your body for movement by increasing the amount of tissue that is available for use. When used after an activity, WAVE5 restores the tissue to its ideal resting length so that it can recover quickly and fully.
Please see the “Meet WAVE5” screen.
Not to worry. Compass saves your last session’s ending point. When you re-open the app, you will pick up where you left off—or at least have the option to continue your previous session. The WAVE5 muscle hydration system is beneficial whether you have two or twenty minutes. Do not be discouraged if you cannot complete your session.
